“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable.  When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.  The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.” -- Fred Rogers

Founder, Director of Intake, Psychotherapist

I approach my work with an understanding that each client's experience is unique and I appreciate the courage it takes to engage in therapy. I work to help my client's feel heard and understood while exploring the sources of their difficulty. It is important to me that my relationship with clients is collaborative and I believe that you are the best expert on yourself and what you want for treatment. Sessions typically focus on building insight into how past experiences affect us today as well as developing communication and coping skills.

I specialize in working with individuals and couples who identify as part of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer community. Within the LGBTQ community, I have further expertise in working with those who wish to address self-esteem problems, the implications of their trauma history, depression, anxiety, and infidelity.

I work with children and adolescents who struggle with social/emotional problems as well as issues surrounding sexual orientation and gender identity. I am committed to ending school bullying and work with all levels of primary and secondary educators on the subject of school bullying and current intervention strategies.

I believe engaging in therapy is an intimate and earnest course toward better understanding oneself. It is important to find a clinician whom you feel safe exploring what brings you to session.

Whether you are looking to cope with mental health concerns or eager to explore and understand yourself more fully, therapy can guide you to a more fulfilling daily experience that you can carry with you over your lifetime. Taking the step to start therapy is a move made out of courage and strength. I believe that through evidence supported treatment, humor, collaboration and a strong, supportive therapeutic relationship, change can begin from the moment we meet. Let's work together to help you build a life worth living!

I have had the privilege of collaborating with adults and children from all walks of life, in a variety of settings. I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with OCD, social anxiety and other anxiety disorders. My experience also includes working with depression, trauma, relational issues, gender identity and sexual orientation.

I utilize approaches under the umbrella of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). This includes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD. I also incorporate Attachment theory and person-centered approaches. I have a strong passion for working with the LGBTQ community.

My integrative approach to therapy starts with developing a genuine and supportive relationship while providing a comfortable, safe space for clients to open up. With a master’s degree from Northwestern University and specialized training in child development, I try to individualize each client’s treatment based on their needs. Your child and I will work toward improving daily functioning by developing greater self-awareness, fostering interpersonal relationship skills, improving frustration tolerance and reducing distressing emotions, and fostering changes in perspective and behavior. Together, we can work toward a happier, healthier child.

To accommodate busy schedules, I offer appointments in the evenings and on Sundays. I also facilitate therapy groups where children can learn how to interact with others while improving and learning other life skills.
